Our weekend

This weekend Alan and I went to a marriage conference. It was cool and I think we concluded that we like being married. =) We have a lot of really fun couples that go to our church that we've known since the beginning of our college days. It's fun watching everyone change and grow up. Well, some of us. =) There were some preggo couples there and it was cool talking with them about baby stuff! We're gonna have so many babies in our church this summer which means more friends for Jackson...yay! There were also a few engaged couples and it was fun talking to them and (secretly) laughing about what they are getting themselves into. I know some people transition really easily into marriage. Alan and I were not two of those people. The first year and even the second one were really freakin hard. We both were pretty selfish. And it took me awhile to get over the frustration I felt that I couldn't just break up with him when he pissed me off. ;-) But NOW it's been almost 5 years and we're really happy together. But deep down, when I hear a couple say that their first year of marriage is "awesome!" I smile and nod and think in my head "okay, you dirty little liars!"
Jackson got to hang out with two other babies all weekend. Jackson (yes, they stole our name...a long story, but seriously, they stole it!) and Muribelle. The other Jackson is a couple weeks older than our Jackson and he was pretty fussy (he'd had his shots that day) but Muribelle and Jackson really hit it off. She had lots of hair that Jackson loved to pull and she really liked trying to poke him in the eye. She also was pretty good at taking his toys away from him and crawling really fast. She was 8 months old and you can't really tell in the pics but she's smaller than Jack. Well, she was lighter when I held the two of them at the same time.

He wasn't quite sure what he thought of her.

Here's Alan and I at an overlook on the retreat. I can't believe this place is so close to where we live and I've never seen it before. We're definitely going back sometime. It was SO beautiful so I got a little camera happy although the pictures don't do it justice:

That sounded like a great little trip. :) Ken and I are like one of the youngest people at our church, so we kinda getting to do events like that with couples our age. When were you married? We celebrated our 5th anniversary on June 30th. I can't believe how fast its gone by. I love being married too, but our first year was tough because we had to go through all the immagration stuff for Ken. Ugh. Teaches you to get really organized fast. Hehe

Our church is mostly young couples and college kids which is fun but sometimes I feel like we miss out on having that "family" feel that older couples bring. We were married Aug. 3rd so in a little less than 6 mos it'll be our 5 year!

Love the pictures! It's always great to take time to reconnect. It gets more difficult the more kids you have! I have to remind myself sometimes that I'm not just a mom, but I'm a wife too and my poor husband needs some attention every once in awhile.

What a great weekend! Sounds like Jackson will have lots and lots of friends. I don't know, but our first year of marriage was okay, EXCEPT for the moving 4 times! :(
